One of the themes that emerged as we wrote the game is that there are no villains in this story. Just a lot of people, some of whom come from a different perspective, and some of whom fuck up badly, but none of whom are one-dimensionally evil, or even particularly malicious in their intent. The same goes for cultures on a large scale. You definitely brought up a point well-worth addressing, and I'm glad to have cleared things up somewhat.
