Nothing wrong with using WP for this. Lots of sites use WP as the backing engine. It's a lot faster, easier, cheaper, and often better than building something custom and specific.

In general, I really like the site, but you might want to tighten up the header image, it is very tall so takes up a lot of the window. Just an unsolicited opinion.
