31 Plays in 31 Days, #4 - “Creeping Over”
A script for a third installment of “Little Monsters,” my idea for short funny stop motion videos using Monster High dolls. I really want to film these two most recent, particularly since I’ve got less than a month before school starts up again. It’s also a lower-key way to give roles to my actor friends, who I’m recording to do the voices. This one I was particularly happy with how it came out, as it has layers of jokes, and a nice subversion at the end.
I did not, however, manage to (spoiler) avoid cannibalism as a punchline. I imagine this will happen often if I continue with these. However, looking it back over, I regret nothing.
Day #4 - “Creeping Over”
From Little Monsters by Phoebe Roberts
DRACULAURA, a vampire girl, mid teens
FRANKIE STEIN, a nonbinary Frankenstein monster, mid teens
CLAWDEEN WOLF, a werewolf girl, mid teens
TWYLA, a Boogiegirl, mid teens

Clawdeen, Frankie, and Draculaura are in sleepwear in Clawdeen’s bedroom.
DRACULAURA: All right, ghouls, it’s midnight. Are we ready to begin the ritual?
They appear one by one in a top down view around a pentagram painted on the floor.
DRACULAURA: I offer this blood, hot from the veins of the uncool.
Blood appears in the pentagram.
FRANKIE: Is that vegan?
DRACULAURA: …sure.
CLAWDEEN: I offer this femur bone, from the thigh of some scrub I dominated on the court.
The femur bone appears next to the blood.
FRANKIE: (Solemnly) Go Skullettes.
CLAWDEEN: (Intensely) Go Skullettes.
FRANKIE: And I offer the flesh of the arm of… I don’t know, some corpse.
They throw their own forearm in.
DRACULAURA: With these offerings, we summon thee… with these offerings, we call to thee… accept our bargain and come!
In a puff of smoke, Twyla appears.
TWYLA: About time. Took you long enough.
CLAWDEEN: Quite whining, you were the one who got yourself grounded.
DRACULAURA: Yeah, next time, download Uber and summon your own damn ride.
TWYLA: Whatever. Pass the snacks.
Clawdeen hands her Frankie’s severed arm and she starts munching.
