31 Plays in 31 Days, #21 - "The Wand"

Bleh, not happy with this one, but I'm struggling already and falling behind. But I just got to crank something out. It's a possible early-dramatic-form-draft of a scene for that prose story I've been scribbling, about a little girl in New England learning witchcraft from her aunt.

I've changed Maggie's name to Megan, for reasons.

31 Plays in 31 Days, #29 - “Witch Knowledge”

Pushing to finish the challenge. I’m a day behind, and the month is almost over. Another little witch girl story.

31 Plays in 31 Days 2023, #27 - “Magic Buddy”

Another from the story about the little girl with the witch aunt. This takes place after #24 - “Under the Pier”, and is building on the oddness of the other girl Maggie, and encouraging the reader to wonder what’s up with her.

31 Plays in 31 Days, #24 - “Under the Pier”

Blah, I am starting to feel behind. School is starting next week, and I’m struggling to really crack the last scene of Mrs. Hawking 7 that needs to be drafted. So one more from the story about the little girl growing up with her witch aunt. This comes after Gwen has investigated the titular cave from #22 - Fisherman’s Cave. She found a chest, tried to open it, and blacked out. Then this scene ensues.

31 Plays in 31 Days, #21 - “Are You a Witch?”

Building on yesterday’s #20 - “Aunt Rachel” as I work on the final scene needed for Mrs. Hawking part 7.

31 Plays in 31 Days, #20 - “Aunt Rachel”

I am reaching the point of Mrs. Hawking 7 where I won’t have to do any more drafting, and should instead move on to editing. At the moment, I only have one scene left to draft, and it’s tricky because it involves structural details of the mystery. I always find that stuff the most labor-intensive part of the craft process, so scenes that require it almost always get left to the end.

So while I chip away at that, I’m posting scenes from something I’ve already been working in— an experiment in a prose project, with important conversations worked out as drama. I do this to deal with the problem with a generation-only challenge, where real writing work in the form of editing is happening, but doesn’t result in something I can post.
