Larp blah

I think I heard [livejournal.com profile] ninja_report say the other day she got her casting for Super Villain Academy at Intercon already. Kinda sorry to hear it, as I'm still first on the waitlist for that. I guess it's still possible for there to be a drop between now and then, and I don't mind taking over a character without being cast, but it's beginning to look like I'm not getting in. My con schedule is lighter than I'd like this year-- I'm only running one thing and playing in one other, and still on the waitlist for two. And I hate not having a Friday game. Suppose there's still time, but I'm not optimistic.

Got my casting for Redemption at the end of January. I'm Rose Miller, the saloon girl. Looks like a decent part. Jared, however, is concerned his character is going to be everything he hates in a game, so I'm afraid he's either going to drop or have a lousy time. Not exactly what I planned, since I was looking forward for us to larp together with our friends. Just out of curiosity, who is everyone else playing?

Evelyn Rhodes, southern belle. Who is Jared playing?

I think he said Jake "Buffalo" James, or something like that.

I think of J. as tending towards worry when it comes to his characters. This isn't to say that he applies it liberally across the board, but I could see him enjoying a character he originally had concerns about.

I don't think this is the sort of game in which we can't give away our character names? I'm playing Widow Elizabeth Jones.

Heh, J. has a tendency to worry when it comes to life. :-) I just want him to go into with it a positive attitude-- there's always ways to make your own fun in a game.

I'm playing Gerald Carson, banker and candidate for Sheriff.

Much as I adore the guy, I think his "worry when it comes to life" m.o. interferes with the going in with a completely positive attitude. *wrygrin*

I asked the GMs- names are ok to share. ^_^ I mean, normally, if a GM doesn't ask me not to say anything, I assume it's ok to say names, but I this time I happened to double check.

I was cast as Nizhoni, the Navajo girl.

If you don't get into other games at Intercon, we'd love to have you volunteer some of your free time....

The nail, she is hit on the head. :-)

Re: SVA, I didn't get my casting, just the questionnaire. So there's still plenty of time.

In other news, I wondered who'd be my saloon girls. :-) I'm Madame Bonnie Lynn--Brothel proprietress.

[identity profile] breakinglight11.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you, marm. :-)

[identity profile] oakenguy.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You've gotten a casting assignment already? I haven't even received any questionnaires!

[identity profile] breakinglight11.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this isn't for Intercon; this is for a run at Brandeis at the end of January.

To everyone's surprise, I am NOT the priest this time.

Rather, I am Isaiah "Doc" Graves, at your service.

Heh, that's a dollar Bernie owes me. :-)

We will have to endeavor to do what we can at 1897, just to keep up tradition and all :)

I think my wooden cross has been worn more by you in LARPs than by me in ever.

[identity profile] lightgamer.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
On the one hand, the number of priests I have played is quickly approaching Ridiculous.

On the other hand, I've never played a priest character I didn't enjoy...and it would probably be worth it just for the chorus of incredulous "AGAIN?" that I enjoyed so much when I showed up for Torch.

So, y'know, your call.

What makes the entire thing so funny is that we really, genuinely, didn't notice we were doing it.

[identity profile] oakenguy.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how relieved that makes me! (Also, I've received two questionnaires since I said that).

Don't forget the number of times you've gotten to pull out the captain's hat, too!
