Mass grave

This marker is in the Mt. Feake cemetary in Waltham on the way I always walk into town.

massgrave

It says "In tribute to the individuals interred here who resided at the Ferdinand Center and Metropolitan State Hospital and those from all other walks of life. May their memory continue to shine and never be forgotten."

With all that open space behind it... is there any chance this is a mass grave for paupers and mental patients from bygones times?

Is there any chance this isn't?

I've noticed that and wondered the same thing.

The graveyard at the old Met State Hospital site has two sections. One for Protestants and on for Catholics. Each gravestone is a large brick of granite with a number carved into it and either the letter P or C, denoting their religion in case you weren't aware of the significance of their burial location. That is all we know about them now.

I think some grave were also disturbed when the railroad was being laid. It might have something to do with that.
