Finally watching Downton Abbey

I've finally started watching Downton Abbey. I've been meaning to for ages, and since I'm writing a lot of period pieces these days it's good for research. But it is even better than I thought it would be.

Bernie and I just got through the first season, and I am enthralled. The writing is fantastic, the set dressing and costumery is absolutely gorgeous, and I find myself on the edge of my seat at every new development. The actors are also great, particular Dame Maggy Smith in her role as the dowager countess. I am rapidly becoming obsessed with it. I hope it inspires me to write more, as it has really taken over my brain.

Dame Maggie Smith is the best part of a very good show. I heard some aspects of High Tea were inspired by Downton Abbey, so on my questionnaire, I begged for the part inspired by the Dowager Countess. ...I liked my character a lot, but she was not the Dowager Countess.

And the costuming... *sigh*
