 Jared's so good for me. On my own I have a tendency to not be very nice-- hard, unsympathetic, uncaring. But he's so good that I want to be good for him. He makes me try to be kinder and more understanding. He makes me want to be better, and so I am.

John does that for me, too. On the whole, I have a tendency to be cynical and unforgiving of people I don't know or don't like. John, however, always takes the other person's situation into account. We make good foils for each other. He keeps me from being overly cynical, and I try to keep him from being overly empathetic. Theree IS such a thing as "too nice."

That's wonderful. I find that it's really important in a relationship for each one to be strong where the other isn't so strong. Makes you able to support one another when you really need it.
