King Lear, triumphant
King Lear closed to great success this weekend. I was very pleased and proud of our cast and crew for the thing we accomplished. In preparation for the show, we spent a grueling week building, painting, cleaning, focusing, wiring, timing, fixing, and variously working late into the night on the sets, lights, and sound. I've never done any real building on a set before this, but I found myself learning how to handle drills and put together platforms just like any good techie. Set painting I've helped a little with before, though nothing so artful as this. And once the show was on, I was proud of everybody both on the stage and off it, who acted and ran the thing to an appreciative and gratifying audience. We did a good job, and special thanks to everyone who came to see it.
As much as I loved it, I'm exhausted and glad it's over. I was there until crazy late every night this week, and I don't think I got more than four or five hours of sleep a night until Sunday evening. I crashed extremely early both then and last night, and I'm slowly coming back to normal.
