Mrs. Hawking photo shoot I, part two
And here is the second half of the Mrs. Hawking photo shoot. These images are the ones meant to suggest the scenes in the play where Mrs. Hawking and Mary go to Cedric Brockton's ball. And that meant dressing them up fancy!

Mary in awe of all the fancy people and the splendid surroundings. She is unaccustomed to doing anything so grand.
But while Mary gapes, Mrs. H is always on her guard.
Mary's dress is the wedding dress I got from the thrift store and dyed blue. The tulle on it is not period, but I like the look of it. I wish the tears in the lace weren't so visible. She also wears a faux pearl necklace, freshwater pearl stud earrings, and white gloves embroidered with seed pearls. Gigi gathered her hair in the back in a sort of faux-french braid, because I thought it should be mostly down. As I said, I see blue as Mary's color.
Mrs. Hawking wears a dark green satin and velour dress that was also thrifted. I imagined her gown in this scene to be gold, but I didn't have one of that color, nor did I think it was necessarily appropriate for a widow's first major social event after her husband's death. I kind of wish I'd just had her hair put all the way up. I tend to prefer hair down as prettier than the alternative, but it would make her look a little more mature.
