Got an e-mail today telling me that I had a little success with another one of my play submissions. I heard from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education that my piece The Triumph of Law made it into the finals of their New Play Development Workshop. Out of the thirty finalists, they will choose eight, with three alternates, to develop and showcase at their yearly conference, which will happen in the summer. If I got selected, I would be expected to fly down to Florida to attend. I know I probably won't get picked, but still, it's nice to make it into the finals. And I do think this piece is pretty strong, if I may say so myself. This is the one that will have a staged reading on public access TV this coming April.

A little positive feedback, a little good news, is welcome right now. On top of my difficulty focusing, the nagging fear that what I am producing isn't that good right now is also holding me back. But I can't let the negativity in other parts of my life bleed in where they don't belong. I need to keep trying, keep doing my best. And my career in playwriting is finally picking up in the last several months. That's really great, and things like making the ATHE finals help reinforce that. I've got to just keep sight of that.
