Harsh treatments like Proactiv don't work for everyone. I have problems with all of the over the counter astringents. They make me break out terribly because they trap things in my pores. Sometimes you need a more gentle approach if you have delicate skin. You're clearly too refined for Proactiv. ;)
If you happen to be on birth control, you can ask about switching to one of the pills that has a side effect of helping with acne. I found that helped me a lot.
Also washing your face and hands (with a gentle bar soap meant for faces) twice a day can really do wonders. You may want to apply a non-greasy moisturizer after you wash. I use complex-15, which doesn't leave that nasty heavy film that most moisturizers do. It's much more pleasant to touch and doesn't clog my pores.
