I have recently heard about the acceptance of Jared and Sharone's two-hour humorous partial horde game, GM Space, to run at Intercon I, and I would like to extend my congratulations to both of them. In addition to my being happy for them, it makes me think of all the gaming projects I have that I should get cracking on.

I'd been considering bidding Alice again for Intercon I, but I know they prefer games that have not yet run at the con in previous years, so maybe that's not such a good idea. That fact, I confess, disappointed me a little, as I very much want to run it again. Not necessarily at Intercon, but somewhere. The two runs so far were so deliriously fun for me. I called Jared to get his thoughts on the matter, and he reminded me of a possibility that may be very interesting to explore-- namely, trying to get the game run at WPI. This is interesting because WPI isn't all that far away, making getting there fairly easy, and there isn't really anyone in the gaming community there who's played in it. We actually spoke to Rhiannon and Jansen about Alice briefly that one time they came to BSCF, and they seemed interested both in playing it and in helping getting it to run. So that's a possibility I'm going to investigate more deeply into making happen when the school year starts. Jared and I would be willing to run it either as part of a gaming weekend or as its own event, whichever is most convenient to schedule.

I'd also love to have a new game to try out. That would be biddable at Intercon. So many things in the works, nothing anywhere near ready. I suppose I could bid something and MAKE myself finish it by the deadline. Hmm. Risky, but not impossible. I'm famous for only being able to finish things because I need to have them ready by a certain time.

Hmmm... perhaps this bears some consideration.

I know this may be far away and such, but I can almost guarantee you that no one, or at least next to no one at RPI has played Alice, and I would be very interested in playing it, since I have heard good things about it. ^_^

That seems to be par for the course for Intercon games. Now that you've got some writing experience, you can start to evaluate the realistic situation of getting something written by then.

Of course, I still desperately need to get my Intercon bids in :(

fiddlefaddle. Games that got good reviews and games that had waitlists are strong candidates for running again at Intercon. It's just usually prudent to wait a year or two in between to give a chance for the playerbase to rebuild. Too close to the last run and most of the interested people will have already played in it. I would say that a significant portion of games that run at Intercon are reruns, and the bid committee looks favorably on any game that has had at least one run and had kinks worked out of it. Yes, they encourage new games too, but know there is more risk there.

Oh, and nothing like having a deadline of Intercon I to actually get that new game written, so if you're interested in writing a new game, go ahead and bid it.

Another option:

This is not technically official yet, but I'm comfortable publicly saying the following:

There /may/ be an Iron GM Contest at Intercon I. You could put a team together to enter that, and write a game at Intercon.

There's also IMA, which just opened bidding, I believe.
