Writing paper and calling Casey

For the rest of my day today, I will be working on my final paper for my short story class. I made some decent progress on it this past weekend, but now I really need to buckle down and get the thing written. I could hand it in as late as a week from Thursday, but it is technically due tomorrow and I really hate handing things in late even if it's not going to affect my grade. I've never handed anything late in my life, nor ever asked for an extension, and it's a habit I don't want to get in now. So, tonight, the grind.
I find myself wanting to talk to Casey, my brother. That's a bit unusual. We don't talk much lately, except incidentally when I call home to talk to my parents. We hung out a lot in high school, if only because we were both heavily involved in theater and as theater kids had most of the same friends, but since we've both gone away to school we don't keep much in contact. Now he's an acting student at the conservatory at Emerson, a good kid who's maybe just a little full of himself. But I think I'd like to give him a call. Maybe it was seeing what a great relationship Bernie and his brother Joe have when Joe visited this past week that makes me a bit wistful that the boy and I aren't all that close. So I might, if I have a moment I can spare, give him a call sometime in the near future and hear how he's doing.
