BPAL Review: Mata Hari

A quick one before I run out of the door.

Five roses with soft jasmine, warmed by vanilla, fig, tonka bean and mahogany, spiced with a drop of coffee bean. 

In the imp: Delicate, light, and floral. The rose and jasmine stand out the most to me.

Wet: Still very floral, but the coffee comes out a lot more now, maybe a touch of the fig.

Dry: The sweet rose and jasmine notes are balanced out nicely by the coffee and something that smells almost chocolately.

The verdict: I really like this one, being a rose and jasmine fan, but the other scents keep it from getting too cloying.

See, I have this little problem. Maybe you've heard of it, or experienced it yourself. It's the problem where all my ideas are awesome until I tell them to somebody.

I have one of those ideas right now.

It's a fantastic idea. It would be awesome if I did it. The thing is, the minute I tell somebody, they're totally going to laugh at me. 'Cause it's so unbelievably lame and dorky, there could be no other outcome.

....but it's so awesome!!!!! Ahhhh!

Frying question

To those of you who are more knowledgeable in culinary matters than myself-- does one need a special apparatus of some kind in which to deep-fry things? As what one may charitably describe as a health freak, I'm not exactly the type to fry things often, but I've found a recipe for artichoke fritters that I think Jared and a lot of people would love, and I'd love to be able to make it without having to buy some new piece of cooking equipment that I'll barely use.

A regular pot would work, right? Just make sure it was deep enough so that things don't splash, right? 'Cause I've got enough cool scars for one lifetime without adding any hot oil burns.
