How do you like Penny Dreadful?? The trailer was too scary for me to get through so I'm a hopeless case as far as watching the actual show is concerned but I really like the main actress...she was in a movie labeled LGBT on Netflix (but probs shouldn't have been) called Cracks and I just loved her acting in it...she's pretty bizonkers. So I've been curious about how the show is even though I'll probably never be brave enough to watch it.

You know, I'm enjoying it. I wouldn't exactly say it's well-written-- it's kind of all over the place --but it' very engaging, the actors are excellent, and the production values are high. It can get pretty creepy though. Bernie likes the lead actress a lot, he thinks she's very intense and beautiful. So, I'd say a fun B+ show.

+1. I'm enjoying this more than I had expected: while it is completely ridiculous Grand Guignol, it is completely self-aware of that, and revels in how over the top it is. And while I can see some of what's coming about three miles off, it still manages to surprise the heck out of me sometimes. (Eg, the return of the Monster.)

Basically, I'm finding this to be what I *wanted* LXG to be: a good, dark mashup of Gothic lit. It's coming to occupy the mental space that True Blood did when that was still new and good...
