Okay, here's a weird one. In this heat, I'm fighting a bit for scene ideas. But blame Liz for being a great actor.

The other night, after attending a for-fun script reading, I was commenting to Bernie how much I loved Liz Salazar's posh British lady voice, and he said we should find a way to let her use it in a humorous capacity in Dream Machine. Because of our editing backlog we haven't worked on Dream Machine for a while, but I know I want her character Meredith to go through a journey where she's learning to become a producer in her own right, but has to work through a confidence crisis. Bernie and I thought of a funny gag here that made use of both Liz's fabulous posh voice, and fits nicely into a joke for that idea.

This scene is very very thrown together but the idea is good and it is there.

Meredith stresses as she makes a call and waits for DAVE LAWRENCE the livestock guy to pick up on the other end.

LAWRENCE: Talk to me.

MEREDITH: Yes, hi, this is Meredith Barry from Dream Machine— I’m calling about your message?

LAWRENCE: What message was that?

MEREDITH: The one you left for Dream Machine? That the livestock you’re supplying are unavailable on the date we agreed upon?

LAWRENCE: Yeah, sorry, honey, can’t do it.

MEREDITH: Uhhhhh, considering that we paid you over a contract so exacting it specified the number of brown versus white goats, over a week ago— why?

LAWRENCE: Timing’s gone to hell— we got cows that gotta stampede at high noon, and horses that make a midnight run, and there’s just no room for the goats anymore.

MEREDITH: No, no, you can’t— that will blow the whole shooting schedule all to hell! You got to fix this!

LAWRENCE: What part of “timing” don’t you understand?

MEREDITH: I understand a down payment a week ago!

LAWRENCE: Look, why don’t we skip all this and get your boss on the line?

MEREDITH: I— excuse me?

LAWRENCE: We’re wasting a lot of time, so why don’t you just get me connected with your actual decision maker so we can actually work this out?

MEREDITH: I— you—

LAWRENCE: I’ll wait.

Meredith dithers in helpless outrage, until, finally, she snatches the phone back to her ear and a whole new persona bursts out of her— through an imperious, overblown, English accent.

MEREDITH: I am in charge here— Lady Marcelina Anastasia di Gregorio Tremaine!

LAWRENCE: Wh-what was that? Marcelina Tremaine?

MEREDITH: You heard me! I am the producer in charge of this project.

LAWRENCE: Oh! Well, like I was telling your gal Friday there—

MEREDITH: It seems you are having difficulty understanding my needs!

LAWRENCE: This Thursday just isn’t enough time to get a herd of goats to the location—

MEREDITH: Then why ever did you agree to bring them to the location on Thursday?

LAWRENCE: Well, I—

MEREDITH: Are you incompetent at your job?

LAWRENCE: No, I— what?

MEREDITH: Is this the typical level of capability demonstrated by a goat farmer?

LAWRENCE: Uh, I’m the broker.

MEREDITH: Something is indeed broke, Mr. Lawrence, and I am unsurprised it is your fault. Now. Your relationship with barnyard animals notwithstanding, you have a contract. Which we will legally enforce should you fail to provide us with the appointed goats, at the appointed time, in the appointed variety of colors. And should it come to that, it won’t be cowhide we’ll be taking it out of.

LAWRENCE: Uh… I’ll take care of it. Madam, uh…?

MEREDITH: Marcelina Tremaine! And don’t you forget it.

She slams the phone off and gasps for breath, surprised at herself. She glances over to see Derek staring at her.

DEREK: You okay?

MEREDITH: Yes! I’m Marcelina Tremaine!
