Despite the fact that it's the last thing I should be digging into now, all the excitement of Intercon sign ups has gotten me in a larpy mindset. It got me thinking about the larps I've had brewing in my head, the ones that I would someday like to write. There are quite a few of them at this point! And while I cannot commit to working on anything right now, I'm curious-- what, of my many ideas, would people be most interested in playing? Which one would you like to see come out next?

"Pan" - Completing the children's literature triptych, a retelling of the Peter Pan story, likely in a traditional fairyland context.

"Imperium" - A game set in Ancient Rome with original characters inspired by the famous historical figures of the time.

"Men of Respect" - A mafia game set in the "Godfather"-era transitional age of organized crime.

"Jabberwocky" - A sequel to Alice about what happens with both the greatest force of good and greatest force of evil are eliminated from Wonderland.

"Asylum" - A horror game set in a Catholic mental institution including both the psychological and the supernatural.

"The Brothers Grimm" - A dark stylized compilation of various famous fairy tales centering around an adventure undertaken by the pair of famous brothers.

"The Greatest Show on Earth" - Currently my least developed idea, but set in a PT Barnum-style big top circus, also likely including supernatural elements.

All of the above? Seriously, these ALL sound amazing. If I had to pick, I'd say it's a toss-up between Pan and Asylum.

I vote for Pan or Asylum.

All of the above!

...I'm super helpful, I know. But all do sound interesting, to me.

I feel like there are already games a lot like the idea for Asylum. I think the Jabberwocky idea is intriguing, as is the Circus idea.

I just want to throw in my two cents and say that I don't think that larp authors should let the fact that similar genres have been explored discourage them from writing a game. Even for concepts that are superficially very similar, different authors have wildly different takes. I've played in 3 different larps about fairies paying their annual tithe to hell, they were nothing alike, and I'd gladly play a fourth if someone bid one.

I like the question behind Jabberwocky, if you feel like you've got a good answer to it.

Men of Respect! I would kill to play in a serious organized crime game set in that era.

But...Asylum and Imperium sound great too.

You should do what you are most excited by :) I would play in any of these.

All seem decent, although The Greatest Show on Earth seems like the hardest to sell. If these were in the same time slot, I'd go for Asylum first, because playing with madness is always fun, and then Jabberwocky, possibly for the same reason.

I like the idea of the Peter Pan game. It is a very underplayed idea currently.

I'm very interested in the Roman Game. I've been thinking about writing a Roman themed game for the past semester as I've been taking a Roman history class. Every class, every reading I keep thinking. OMG so much drama and backstabbing. This would be PERFECT for a larp.

Less interested in a Godfather game. Just doesn't hit me as a genre I have a great amount of interest in.

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY write a sequel to Alice. This would be my number 1 pick. I think it is my favorite of your games.

Asylum: Very interesting concept. With the couple of asylum themed games that have recently been written (or in the process of writing) It seems to be a genre that people are very interested in right now. I've had an idea bumping around for a while about an asylum themed game about time travel. I like the idea of adding supernatural to the insane (because who is going to believe them, and can they even believe themselves)

The Brothers Grimm: This has a lot of potential. I say it would be my second pick from the list. With the tv shows right now centering around fairy tales a lot of people have a LOT of interest in the retelling of fairy tales and this seems to be a very unique idea.

The Greatest Show on Earth: This would be pick number 3 for me. I've been trying for a while to come up with ideas for a circus game. I'm only aware of currently 1 circus themed game and I have this feeling that there should be more. About as far as I got with writing mine was coming up with the title cirque du souls. (a play on cirque du soleil)

Whoa. Lost this tab for a few weeks, didn't I? Given my History/Classics B.A., I have to put a big vote behind Imperium, but Pan looks like a pretty awesome idea too. Greatest Show you'd have to be very careful to distinguish it at first glance from Colonel Rawhide. And there has been [at least one] other game called Asylum, set in a mental institution. Not a good game either. I think there would likely be enough demand for an Alice sequel, but be careful you aren't serving the fans instead of the art.
