So I've decided I'm just going to post the draft of Lame Swans I handed in for school. As I mentioned, the images are not edited a carefully as I would like them to be, but I won't have time to work them over any time soon, and I'd like to share this mostly-completed work with you. The models who did so much for me deserve to see the results of their Labors. I'll post one scene of the book a week or so.

Wow, the rhythm of this is beautiful. You've managed to suit your writing to the medium very eloquently.

Mmm. I'm impressed. The words and pictures pull me in -- I forget that they're static images very quickly.

That's one of the goals of comics, to suggest the dynamics of motion with the statics of images.... think about all the times you see someone get punched, or swing on something, or drive really fast... action in frozen moments.

Yeah -- I've read Understanding Comics. :-)

I've never had that principle driven home quite so completely, though. When I saw the early images, I found them very static, but now that I see them strung together like this I am struck by the dynamism of the whole. It's a marvellous effect.

I'm not sure that that dynamism is entirely a property of the form, either. It may be, but certainly I think it is enhanced by the writing and the choice of scenes -- the strength of the narrative which forms the thread linking the images.

In short: I'm hooked, I want more. :)
