I'm cold, hungry, and annoyed at how tough it is to build a World of Darkness NPC. It's raining like hell and I just got back from the Barnes and Noble that had the book I needed. I was there for an hour and a half and I still didn't finish. I couldn't stay any longer because my brother was my ride, and he had to leave with the car to go to his new summer job. I'll have to go back again, I guess. Unless I'm just a moron, I can't seem to find any instructions on NPC-making. As far as I can tell, the only way to make a special NPC is to build them as if they were a full player character. It's very inconvenient, not to mention time-consuming, especially since I don't own the book. I'm not inclined to buy it because I don't have much use for it beyond this one character, at least for the moment, and I just bought a new swimsuit that was more expensive than it strictly had to be. Buying the book after that does not conform to my new plan to manage my money more carefully. Aw, well. I can always go back tomorrow.

Fudge it. White Wolf isn't really balanced by a number of points for a character like D&D is balanced on levels, so don't go through the hassle of counting points and just give them the attributes/skills/powers you think are appropriate.

Hmm, that's a very good idea. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

[livejournal.com profile] neuromancerzss's comment makes sense, but if you're still struggling when you get back to MA, you can borrow my copy of the NWoD book.

Thanks very much, that's really kind of you.

No problem. I use it far less than I thought I would, since I ended up liking the setting far less than I thought I would.
